Hi Towertalkians,
A possible alternative, if you're stuck for grips and stand-offs for your
tower, is to u-bolt a metal plate to the rotator cage. On the plate you can
mount pipe clamps, which will grip the coax securely.
This is particularly useful when you're running large dia. feeder like
Heliax up to the rotator and RG-213 from there to the beam. Put some heat
shrink or Hellerman sleeve over the coax at the clamp point. Run the coax
thru, then let it slip so that the back of the connector is resting on top
of the clamp, then tighten firmly.
This comes a solution for mounting two or three masthead preamps, without
the possibility that loose-hanging feeder will in time pull the bulkhead
connectors off. If you think wind resistance could be a problem, drill some
extra holes in the plate.
