Yuck. CoaxSeal is a kind of butyl rubber that is used as a vapor
barrier. Unfortunately used by itself it is a disaster. A better alternative
is a real vapor wrap that professional antenna installers use. Champion Radio
Products carries the db Products brand and unlike CoaxSeal, it'll peel right
off of a connector. www.championradio.com for more info.
Put a layer or two of Scotch 33 or 88 tape or heatshrink over the joint
first. Then apply the vapor wrap layer. Cover that with 2 layers of 33 or 88
and you've got a good weatherproof joint.
A final coating of Scotchkote, spray clear acrylic or Liquid Electrical
Tape completes the ensemble. This makes a bombproof, professional joint.
