Not just softer, but also a lot whippier and ultimately less strong than,
for example, chrome-moly. Around here, you can get hot dip galvanizing
done fairly reasonably if you come up with the minimum weight requirement.
I've also had pretty good luck, in our admittedly benign climate, with good
cold galvanizing spray (one with a high zinc percentage).
