Reminds me of the time when myself, W7WA and K1ZM
were on a plane approaching Zurich on the way to WRTC2000
in Slovenia.

It was very dark and drizzly, and getting turbulent descending
below 9,000 feet when all of a sudden FLASH!!! WHAP!!
BANG!!! We were hit by lightning!

It was the only flash we saw and the only crash we heard!
The lightning strike was confirmed by the Captain only
AFTER we landed. There were some
interesting marks on the front and bottom of the
Airbus-300 plane which were very visible at the airport gate..

Apparently the plane triggered the lightning. Interestingly
enough, while we were all contemplating our demise in the
seconds after the strike, the turbulence immediately vanished
and the ride was smooth as silk for the
rest of the descent!
