W4AN published the simplest plumbing solution I've seen for 3/4" hardline, back
in 1995 on towertalk. You use a 1/2" female water pipe to 1/2" copper tubing
adapter, with an Amphenol barrel. These have a snap-ring which you can remove
by carefully hacksawing down to the snap-ring groove, at which point all the
innards can be removed. Silver solder the barrel into the copper tubing end of
the adapter, with the cut end inside. Cut the end of the hardline so that the
slightly-spread center part of the barrel fits over the center conductor with
about the the proper extension (trial fit) and solder. Then put the barrel
innards back, and thread the adapter onto the hardline sheath using Noalox for
lubrication, until everything lines up.
I have had two of these out in the weather, well but not exceptionally taped,
for 10 years with no problems.
