The 25GSSB base is 1/2" thick, while the BPC25G is on the order of 1/4"
thick.
That should help understand the difference.

this week to see if you folks could shed any light on this.
Radian doesn't publish specific dimensions (that I know of) on the BPC25G
(pinned base plate) and 25GSSB (self supporting base plate) but by their
shipping weight, I can see the they are vastly different products. The self
supporting base is twice the weigh of the pier pin base. The extra steel
would account for the extra cost. One can't simply purchase a BPC25G, drill
four 11/16" holes in it and call it a SSB25G.
The Rohn/Radian specs spell out very clearly that the BPC25G is not to be
used for a bracketed tower. They call for a short section embedded in
concrete, or either the 25GSSB or BPH25G. My guess would be that many who
wish to use a base plate with their bracketed tower either use the pinned
base plate anyway or drill four holes in the pined base plate and call it a
self supporting base plate. I haven't worked with enough 25G towers nor
have I paid attention enough to know if this is true -- just a suspicion.
