Getting to the first set of guys is always the hardest part of installing a
pier pin installation.
I tip up the first 20 feet (with the aid of a tractor bucket), tighten up the
temporary guys (at 20 feet) to hold the tower in place on the pier pin then
stack the next two sections one at a time and which gets me to the first guy
point at just above the third section where I can then attach the first
permanent guy set which can be plumbed and tightened.
In lieu of having a tractor bucket you would have to tip the first section up
onto the pin and then tie it off with temporary guys as you stack the second.

I am a newbie. I am putting up a 60' Rohn 25G with 2 sets of guys.
My question concerns the baseplate. The baseplate only uses a pier pin to hold
it in place. It seems to me that this would allow the base plate to move. The
1st set of guys wires go at 28'
What is the safest method for installing the 10' sections prior to having the
1st set of guys in place? I am not using a crane. I am using a gin pole. I want
to make sure that it does not fall over while I am the process of getting to
the height of where the 1st guys go.
