Hi Jim,
Until last week I had not heard about my good friend Ward’s book – I certainly
intend to buy it. I have read many materials over the years and been involved
in the building and ground of many stations. And, yes, I have also previously
read much of your outstanding .pdf (thank you for providing it!) and downloaded
it to my computer several months ago so that I could read it – and I have been
doing so.
Having said that, it doesn’t answer my question. There is no one correct way
of doing anything in this hobby – the present discussion on how different
people ground the legs of their tower is proof of that. I wanted to learn what
different people on this reflector have done and why, so that I had multiple
knowledgeable viewpoints to consider.
My station is different from yours and even if I possessed all of your
knowledge in this area, I would likely still choose to do some things
differently.
We have some world class contesters on this reflector. Even if all of our
propagation, antenna and operating knowledge and skills were equal, we would
still choose to operate differently from one another. There is no “one right
way”. That is why asking the question and discussion is important and helpful
(for me anyway).
I hope that you will choose to answer my question. Thank you.

Why not just buy and study the new ARRL book by Ward Silver, N0AX, which
covers all of this, and to which I contributed? Or "Up the Tower" by
K7LXC, for which I contributed the chapter on Grounding. Or study the
slides for the talk on Power and Grounding for Ham Radio that I've given
at Pacificon and the Visalia DX Convention?
