Subject: Re: [TowerTalk] height of ground rod at tower base
<They want to see ground rods. They look at houses every day and the

<tower base is poured 6 weeks ago. So I need to put in a couple of ground
<rods and just need to know what the typical house install rod height is.

## use 8 ft long copper clad ground rods. Recess the tops of each rod
several
inches below ground, then cadweld the 2 gauge stranded cu wire to the tops
of each grnd rod. On the cadwelds, they sit on top of the rod, with the cu wire
coming in through the side ferule. You ignite the starting powder on top, and
it all plops down on top of the rod + cu wire interface.
## Then use a compression lug at other end of 2 gauge wire...and bolt to
interface for
tower leg, or across an entire face. I sued 2 gauge, insulated and stranded
cu wire.
## leave the tops of the ground rods and cadwelds intact for his inspection.
Once he is
happy, then they get covered up. Nobody leaves rods sticking out of the
ground.
