At first I thought Joe was onto something about dropping the stop bit (and he
still may be), but I looked at the writelog.ini file
for my Kenwood TS-870 and I have this entry that you probably need in your
writelog.ini file:
[RIGS]
Com2:=9600,n,8,2
My '870 is on COM port 2.
If you don't have a [RIGS], just add it anywhere along with Com2:=9600,n,8,2
directly below it.

Tom, if it works ok with HRD, then maybe this will help.
In the Writelog.ini file, change the setting to:
9600, N, 8, instead of
9600, N, 8, 1 in other words leave off the stop bit but leave the comma.
That is what I had to do

So far, nothing I've tried has worked. I'm pretty tech savvy and I really
believe the problem is with the software.
I had high hopes for putting this program on the air for sweepstakes. I
really want to like it, and I'm sure I will when it works for me.
Downloaded N1MM for the weekend's contest support.

I made sure the settings were correct in the entry window.
A few other things I've tried:
Changing the data rates - no joy.
Changing the line in the setup window - no joy.
Swapping the location with the working IC-7200 - no joy.
I've done several full reloads of writelog - no joy.
Getting frustrated . . .

You did set the frequency in that entry window to "rig on com 4" didn't you?

I last wrote to you about a few problems I was having. A couple of them I
figured out, but one is still a mystery to me.
I have a Kenwood TS-2000 using port 4 (9600, N, 8, 1). I'm using a
USB/Serial adapter here. In the entry window, the rig is showing as No Rig!
instead of the frequency and mode. I also have an IC-7200 using port 5 (same
as above). This rig shows up properly in the in the entry window.
I've verified both configs in the writelog.ini file.
Both radios work well with Ham Radio Deluxe.
I'd like to use the TS-2000 for the Sweepstakes this weekend, so having
the frequency is necessary for the log. Please help soon...
