[Yaesu] Problem in ATU of FT1000D

I read the article last night. The problem that's described is probably
unique to operating into antennas with extremely high VSWRs, far in excess
of the FT920's internal automatic antenna tuner's capabilities.

I've heard that the FT1000's internal automatic antenna tuner has a lithium
battery inside, which is used for remembering the tuner's settings. I
wonder what happens when it goes bad?

The article is on page 66 of October issue of QST.

Thanks Steve:
When I get to my local library, I will review the Hints and Kinks. I
normally do this each time, but I have no recall of such hints/kinks.
If you or anyone else can tell me the specific article, that would be
helpful to me in finding the QST issue.

It appears that I need to clean out the memory stack for the ATU for
matching such extremely short physical antenna loads, as was done here on my
10m
experiment.
Is there a simple/magical reset of the ATU memory stack in the FT1kD ?

I now do have the article posting that I was originally seeking, thanks
to John, K1RC. I cannot provide a date, if anyone else is searching the
archive,
but this is part of the heading that is included in the article:

Many thanks again to all that respond(ed).
