Hi I am planning putting up a vertical (130ft tower) insulated form the ground...of course.
But a the place I want to place it, there is much snow....at least 30 inches of snow at the end of the season.
I wonder if I should elevate the vertical of about 30 inches or if this snow will not affect the vertical...
Anybody experienced this fact before.. I mean snow at the base of the vertical....
I would appreciate infos about it
Many Thanks
NOEL

I assume you have a substantial radial ground system under the tower. I would take a tour of some local AM broadcast stations and see how they do it. Perhaps talk with some of the engineers of the stations.

I have a quarter wave base insulated vertical with 120 quarter wave radials. I have not noticed any change with snow, but of course, we have much less snow accumulation here than you have up in Québec.

I have noticed some de-tuning effects from freezing rain.
