Nick,

Dave is fine, or at least he was the last time I spoke to him a couple
of months ago. He has remarried (you recall his wife Charlotte passed
away a few years ago) and he has moved to a new QTH and, sadly, says
he has no interest in radio now.

Regarding your comments, Mike VE9AA . . .

I appreciate I may not be one of the biggest signals on the band (although I did get several S9+ reports from NA over this weekend). . . but the point I was making was that there were several of the big EU stations on the band too, and they were getting very few replies, even though conditions were
pretty good !

And secondly, if anything, last winter a lot MORE North American stations
were coming on for my suggested Wednesday CW Activity Night than on a
typical weekend. (hence my suggesting it . . . as I say, I figured people
might be busy with family at the weekend)

In the recent Stew Perry contest, I worked dozens of NA stations that you never normally hear on the band. These stations obviously put out a good enough signal to get through the very strong EU contest QRM, so must have a
pretty decent 160m setup . . . yet most of the time they are pretty
inactive.
