Here in Central Illinois a gallon of water will put a 8' ground rod in the
ground in less than 3 min. Dig a divot to hold half the water and push ur
rod as deep as possible, pull it up and push it down a couple of times. The
rod gets good and slick and will push in easy, add more water as necessary,
let the air out of the hole a couple of times and tap in the last foot.
Very easy to do here, as we do not have a rocky soil. I really don't know
how it would be trying to put in a soft copper tube. Maybe with one end
closed up I suppose it would be no different than a rod except the last foot
would have to be pushed in more. Less tapping, although, being wet it might
be easier.
