Hi Larry - I've seen that seen many times through the years, wondering the same
thing. I did a bit of looking and have found that the home is located here:
2310 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027-1239
If you go to Google Maps and do a street view, the house is there, but it does
have a big gated fence now......the tower - it's gone, at least I have not
found it using street view. It would be interesting to query a database of
hams by zip codes and see who lived there back when the movie was filmed. I
have taken a look at existing hams with that zip and there are no hams near
that address now, some are close, but nothing with a few houses.

Maybe this has been discussed before?????
Last evening I saw the beginning of "National Lampoon's Vacation" movie
starring Chevy Chase and made in 1983. When Chevy Chase purchases his new
green Ford station wagon and drives it home for the first time, the camera
shows him pulling into a circular driveway in the front of the home and clearly
shows the neighbor with about a 70 or 80 foot telescoping tower with a large
tribander on top.
This is suppose to be in or near Chicago. Does anyone know where this is and
who the ham is next door?
