Ok - that might be correct - problem is that I have been unable to work the
short skip to G/GW/OY since I got the OB9-5 up ;) that must be the CDX then!

Your "feeling" about angle of radiation is WRONG -- angle of radiation of a
horizontal antenna is determined entirely by mounting height and your terrain.
Any difference in performance is the result of efficiency and the antenna's
design. Your other comments make sense. :)
