W4HM DISCUSSION OF DAILY SOLAR SPACE AND GEOMAGNETIC WEATHER-

For Friday March 01, 2013

Solar activity is low as far as the emergence of the number of new sunspot 
groups. Currently there are 4 new un-numbered sunspot groups and 5 existing 
numbered sunspot groups.

Solar activity is low as far as the number of solar flares, 4 occurred. The 
largest solar flare in magnitude was a very small in size B6.8, which 
occurred at approximately S17W35 and associated with sunspot group #11682.

The daily solar flux index (SFI) has been at or above 100 for 3 consecutive 
days, currently (NOAA) at 112.0.

The daily sunspot number (SSN) has languished below 100 for 9 consecutive 
days, currently (NOAA) at 88.

The geomagnetic field has been active for 2 consecutive days with the Kp 
(planetary) index reaching a 5, which is minor geomagnetic storming 
conditions. As collected by Potsdam Germany WDC the 3 hour Kp (planetary) 
intervals were 44455444. As collected by NOAA/SWPC the 3 hour Kp (planetary) 
intervals were 44354444. The source of the geomagnetic storming is a 
geo-effective (Earth facing) coronal hole, #556.

Via Kyoto U. the Dst ranged between -16 and -59.

Via SOHO and sollen.info the maximum and minimum solar wind values were 
346-615.

Via NOAA the maximum background x-ray solar flux value was B2.7.

Via NOAA the energetic proton flux was < (10+0).
