Hi all:

I've operated at this station! :-)

I had to hit the foot switch to send with the paddle. The
computers generated PTT for automatic messages and the radios
were set up with VOX turned off.

Now CT knows how to read a paddle. Sending with the paddle does
introduce a timing problem though...the computer doesn't know
when the message ends, so it's "VOX delay" can be set
high enough to keep the amplifier from dropping out between words.
This causes the first character of calling stations to be
obliterated.

The footswitch, in addition to being nice and aerobic, solved
that problem. As Scott observed, so does letting the amplifier
drop out between words.

A letter space is only three dit times. A word space is seven.

Mark
