I was just sure I asked whether anyone
could name another sport that allows all
technology to be used to improve the
performance of the participant. Well, in
fact, that's exactly what I asked....
You must have either "skimmed" the
e-mail and missed the word "ALL" or just
misunderstood what was written while at
the same time thinking I was stupid
enough to ask whether anyone just name
some items of technology that were used
in other sports? Regardless, you did a
good job of listing some items of
technology used in other sports.
The point is that every other sport
draws the line at some time to preserve
the sport.
As one little example. You can't use a
level or small transit on the green if
you are playing according to the rules
of golf. I will go out on a limb and
say the USGA and Royal and Ancient will
NEVER allow it as long as the game
exists.
I know it is "horse and buggy" to swing
a golf club and chase a ball around the
pasture trying to
make it go in a hole in the ground. Why
not shoot it out of a gun with a space
age device that will put it in the hole
every time. The answer is that it
would not be golf if all technology was
allowed.
