Hi Joe (and all),
take a look at a map, any map. Even in the tiny country of the Netherlands
we have miles of beach with the same beamheading. Right now I'm on holiday
in OZ and they have got miles and miles of sand and salt water. Plenty to
go around. OK, both counties aren't exactly the "Caribbean" or "near the
EU" but finding a long enough beach with the same beamheading shouldn't be
that big of a problem.
I kind of like the idea of simplifying things and keeping sponsor an
competitor costs as low a possible. I also like the idea that competitors
should bring their own wire antenna's and that they can bring friends as a
support team. The only downside I see is that people with a big budget can
invite a big support team an build big wire arrays. I can imagine that some
competitors don't have friends with budgets big enough to travel half way
across the globe to help their fellow hams win a competition.
As far a the big wire arrays goes, you could set a limit to the
amount/length of wire they can use. I would really love to see what antenna
set-up they can put together.
