Jeff, I wanted to set the record straight for anyone who didn't watch the
video. Since it looks like now the video is blocked from view. Interestingly.

It is correct that Ray was not showing his frequency. However, the love chat
on the screen showed the frequency which Ray chose to ignore. Comments of -
can't hear you here yet Ray. And the real time logging he was showing allowed
anyone who worked him to be sure they were in the log. This is okay? Really?

I also agree that he never specifically asked people to look him up and work
him. But he asked people generically listening and watching to call in and to
and promote the live stream link to their networks of friends. Chats indicated
the listeners were complying.

Its just not appropriate to be included in the normal competition.

I am completely in favor of the concept PROMOTING ham radio, contesting, and
DXing. I am not in favor of somehow thinking this is okay within the current
rules of non-assisted contesting. Period. Personally, I don't think its
appropriate in assisted either, but I will let those that submit their scores
in that category chime in.

I saw The W2RE RHR video after the contest. There were also several other
stations live streaming on YouTube during ARRL DX SSB. Some of those stations
had the camera focused on their radio which showed what frequency they were on.
Ray didn't show his frequency and mentioned the reason why several times. On
the live chat that was up someone asked what frequency he was on and he didn't
tell them. He did comment "I suppose you could look at the spotting network"
but he never specifically asked any one to do that. I would consider that just
a off the cuff remark. Anyone watching the live streaming who really wanted to
know could have found out where Ray was without even asking him. So I guess I
don't get why anyone would accuse him of cheating.

Ed,

what numerous rules violations do you have in mind?
So far I am not aware of any.

I would suggest that anyone curious take a listen to the live stream
recording on YouTube and look at the interaction Ray has with the "live chat
room" on his website with the contacts being made.

Asking people to look for him on the Cluster to see where he is.

Even as an assisted operation, it demonstrates numerous rules violations as
recorded.
