Randy:
I can appreciate your frustration. At the same time I can relate to you
that I deal with and do business (not in electronics) with a Dealer
network.
All warranties are "factory warranties". This means the Dealer simply
passes through the warranty from the manufacturer to the
purchaser/end user.
What ever the factory policy is, is the policy. That's the way we
have to
play the game.
Now, should one encounter an understanding dealer, one that wishes to
take
some financial risks, one that chooses to keep their customers happy,
then
and only then will they exchange a radio. We do the same and then
have
the defective repaired and then it is necessary to sell the product as a
used and repaired product. Bottom line, we take it on the chin
financially.
I know this doesn't help, but today's business is based on 3 to 5
percent
profit. Not a lot to play with in the face of mail order 800 numbers.

Subject: Re: [TenTec] dealer networks: AES NO value added
My father in law KB9VRY purchased a radio at AES to have it fail a day
or two after recieving it. A call to AES got him " We'll send it back
to the manufacturer or you can." How about a new radio and AES send
the
defective one back? No way. No new radio. He nor I will ever buy
from
them again. I buy all my stuff from our local ham store now. They
give
you a 10 day exchange on defective equipment at least and I had
problems
with a Maha 777 PLUS and they exchanged it past the usual 10 day
period.
AES die, die, DIE!
