Which is one of the reasons why I now have a Jupiter. There is also the
pride of having a radio that is made in America, that works so well, that
ties me into this happy (normally) family of Ten Tec owners, etc.

I still think that AES does what it can for their customers. It is hardly
rational to think that any business would be willing to take the loss to
keep a customer happy unless they had a strong expectation of repeat
business. It is not possible to know what track record the poster had with
the store, and what the conditions truly were that caused this unhappy
situation. If the store was treated to the same attitude shown in the post
it is not hard to imagine that AES is happy not to have this customer any
longer.

This is what separates Ten-Tec from resellers. The 30 day trial period
simply can not be beat nor can their extrordinary customer service and
overall friendliness. The friendliness, and helpful nature, of the sales
staff EVEN continues after they have your money! I have certainly noticed
how the attitude of sales people often changes after the sale when it is no
longer necessary for them to be nice. This is not the case with Scott,
Stan, or anyone else at Ten-Tec sales. (don't mean to ignore anyone else -
but Scott and Stan are the only people I have had dealings with)
I have purchased radios from "***" and "***" that I was not happy with.
Return? Trade? NO WAY! (unless I was willing to get a fraction of the
purchase price!) Once again Ten-Tec stands out from the rest with their
excellent trade-in policy. Too bad Ten-Tec ONLY makes parts for cars rather
than the entire vehicle.
I can not fault the stores for not wanting to replace a rig that has
"broken" with a new one. I can not fault them BUT I do NOT like that policy
either! I have been in that situation with a Yaesu VX-7R. It "broke" about
a month after I bought it and it took about 4 months to get it back from
Yaesu! I will not mention the name of the store(s) but will most
definitely thank Barry for help in getting my radio back from Yaesu. (I was
having no luck getting any information, or answers to my messages from
Yaesu)
Buying direct is definitely the way to go! Long Live Ten-Tec!
73, Bill
