Aloha,

So, $3100 puts you off? Make a reasonable offer.....

BTW, if great performance is your goal, I don't think you would rather have
the new IC-7800, here are some very reliable test results:

Model.........MDS...........2kHz BDR.....10kHz
BDR......2kHzIMDR..........10kHzIMDR

IC7800.......-127dBm........80dB.............98dB....................78dB....................88dB

Orion..........-129dBm........98dB.............100dB...................92dB....................92dB

These were measured by Tom Rauch, W8JI, in his extremely well equipped lab,
see:

http://www.w8ji.com/receiver_tests.htm

Tom has bought both an Orion and the new IC-7800, and the above are the test
results on his own rigs. You will see that he gets better numbers with his
extensively
modified Drake rigs; but they are really optimized for his love, 160 meter CW
operation. The numbers above for the Orion are as good as they now can be
from an all HF band amateur rig that is "affordable", hi. Rather dramatic
deltas
between the two rcvr's under close spaced, stong signal conditions.
How Tom collected the above data at:

http://www.w8ji.com/receivers.htm

Of course, these are not ARRL lab numbers, but seem to be in close agreement
with the numbers Sherwood presented in his talk at Dayton a couple weeks
ago, see:

http://www.sherweng.com/Dayton_2004/Dayton_2004-Sherwood.pdf

his complete slide set, .pdf format.

73, Jim KH7M
