Hello dere,
Well I tried hammers sledges etc. But the last time I needed a ground
rod  (8ft) I used a garden hose. It works and takes about 10 min. in the
type of soil at my location. I also use a garden hose with a stream of
water to remove old ground rods. It works great, try it yourself.
