I have a Pro 96 and used a TA36 and they both work great.   Haven't melted
under power and certainly do pull out stations clearly that cannot be heard on
my wire antennas.
I saw someone compare a Mosley Tribander against a mono band 20 meter.   That
isn't even apples.

I had a similar setup (except mine was a PRO-57A) and had
similar excellent results.

Without specific data I can only conclude that some folks have
had some bad experiences therefore all their antennas are "bad".

Not from where I stand, and the proof is in the pudding, as they
say.
