Hi Bob,

This problem seems to generate two sides. Those that can, and those that can not.

WriteLog itself says No support for LPT keying under WIn2K/XP. This in itself tells you the problem is in Writelog. It has nothing to do with the way WL checks the ports as WL won't do anything without a third party driver under these operating systems. I think most folks in the "can not" category share the feeling of disappointment in WL for not being able to do something that HAS been done by others successfully.

I for one would like to believe that when you pay for a program such as WL, if enough people ask for support of a particular function the authors of the program would do their best to support it. In my limited experience with this list so far, no other single issue seems to generate as much traffic as this one.

I am hoping that the authors of WL are paying attention and maybe they can find a way to make support of LPT ports in WL happen.

I have had Userport running on this machine for almost 2 years and have not seen any negative effects from it.

It's not Userport that is the problem.

To remove(disable) the Userport driver, double click on Userport.exe and click on Stop. Done.

If your LPT port does not work with Writelog & Userport(DLportIO or other), something else is preventing it from working.

Why do other programs work? They probably don't check for potential conflicts as thoroughly as Writelog does.
