For years (since 1969) I thought, the following approach is applicable for
split:
- UP for CW means, up 1 kc and higher
- UP for SSB means, up 3 kc and higher
- UP for RTTY means, up 2 kc and higher
- regardless of mode, UP1 means up 1 (and it really means, 1 kc up), UP2
means up 2, etc
- UP 2-5 means up 2 to 5 kc, and so on (if somebody wants to narrow down a
split range).
This is the first time I can see the reading of UP 1 as up 1 and higher.
It only means, there is no consensus in that.
