Emil, first of all the comment from Ten Tec repair seems to be out of
character from all my experiences from that department in the past. I have
always been treated with courtesy and respect. The guys in repair have
always been patient when I had a problem or question.
The "gruff" reply that you got from service puzzles me.
As far as the NR is concerned, it either works properly or it doesn't. The
posts concerning this seem to indicate it works OK for some and not for
others, or it depends on where certain things are set to get it to work.
On the other hand, since the Orion program began there have been functions
that worked miniminally or not at all, one that comes to mind right away is
the spectrum scope.
I decided some months ago not to purchase any other ham gear where all
funtions are not working properly, or where I would have to wait months or
years for functions to get fixed.
If you purchase an Orion then you are definitley looking down the road for
fixes to come at some point in the future in order to get some feature or
function fixed. Getting updates which add NEW features is one thing, but
waiting for lenghty periods of time for fixes for problems is another.
It is my hope the Ten Tec will release new gear, like the Omni 7, with all
features and functions working 100%. If they can do this they will have to
double the size of their facility, and add new workers to keep up with the
demand!
Merry Christmas to all on the list! Toby W4CAK
