Hi Al K0AD,
Related to your problem.
I have three desktop computers with SIIG quartet rs-232 boards.
I have never had a failure with rig control or tnc's in kiss mode.
I am about to hook my D-700A aprs radio that I have in the house
to program it from one of the desktop SIIG ports, then run Winlink from the
same.
I will try the programming tonight to see what happens and get back to you.
The only time I haved seen a pc reboot was while programming a D-700A
from my ASUS 10" notebook from a USB to RS-232 converter (a cheapy) there are
only usb ports on the notebook.
The notebook rebooted when writing the program to the D-700A radio. UIView and
rig control worked fine though.
My old P3 850mhz Sony Vaio laptop with a PCMPIA to 4 output rs-232 com port
works perfectly when writing the same program to the D-700A.
As I said, I will try it tonight on the SIIG card and get back to you with the
results.
