Above about 50 MPH the power required is proportional to the speed
cubed! 100% increase ,say 50 to 100 MPH ,requires 8 times as much power 200
% increase 50 to 150 MPH 27 times as much horse power. A 26% increase in
speed amounts to a doubling of power.
The engine of a car traveling at a speed of 75 MPH is producing about 2.5
times than it would at 55 MPH. So that is like running almost 4kW instead
of 1.5 kW.
