REPLY:

I respectfully disagree. With the edge of the disk connected to the
wire, NO RF has to flow THROUGH the disk to reach the far end of the
antenna, thus the disk acts only as a capacitor tacked on to the wire.

With the disk connected at it's center, the RF has to flow through the
disk to reach the far end of the wire. It still acts as a capacitor,
but also as a conduction path for the RF flowing to the far end of the
wire.
