W4ZV: Not American patriotism...American innovation. Nobody mentioned innovative Patriot radio "made in USA"!? Others are 1970 technology with "roofing" filters backtracking to 9 and 4 MHz respectively. DDS is the only improvement. Flex-radio SDR with Taylor QSD has also reached the hardware limit. Bells & whistles are surely coming. There are promising developments with ADI and Linear tech 16 bits ADC at 130 MHz with 100 dB SFDR. Last HF Collins radio was made in 1997 and it had classic superhet front-end for HF. DSP DC on VHF. However, hamradio business is good for additional filters manufacturers for a while. Professional communications solved majority of their problems with TX power control while we cause QRO QRM to ourselves! 73 de Mario, S56A, N1YU _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Contest@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/cq-contest |
