So, Pete, it's just SOA, HP or LP or QRP, for the first 24-hours logged,
with 60-min off times, right?
How about SO2R?  I know you said you weren't going to operate SO2R, but it's
allowed in your contest within a contest, right?

If so, I like that.

The original idea, as championed by VE5ZX and I, back in the oughts, was to
have a 24-hour category with, otherwise, the same rulesas the 48-hour
contest.  This got transmuted in the CQWW Committee to what you see before
you now, and the "Classic" name was also their invention.  I offered my
explanation of why they probably did it at the start of this thread - not
based on inside information, but simple extrapolation from the way this same
group jumped on our idea a decade ago.
