Agree 100% with Steve.

I'm amazed every year when I look at my log check reports and see people who have logged me in either OH or zone 4. I haven't lived in Ohio for 16 years. I'm active in just about every CW contest so it should be a secret that I live in Georgia!

Guys need to stop being too dependent on the technology to do everything for them. You need to log what you copy.

Before everyone paints N1MM Logger as some kind of villain, let me remind you that prefill has been a standard feature in contest loggers since K1EA's CT, in the late 1980's.

Is that why 15% of the QSOs in the last ARRL DX and CQWW I operated with my callsign got the state/zone wrong?
Hint - they let N1MM pre-fill and didn't copy the exchange.

In CQWW, once you have the call sign (by skimmer or otherwise), you don’t need to copy a darn thing. N1MM already “knows” the exchange for you.

Hans - you have to copy the exchange yourself.  That requires much
skill, especially in CQWW  :-)

That’s interesting, Barry.

So in CQWW (is that a “major”?) you can use a local skimmer to decode CW, but you can’t use a local decoder to decode CW?

Did I get that right?

CW decoders are strictly prohibited in the majors.
