"Calling CQ a had auto repeat set to 2.8 sec and still had guys (maybe gals
too) coming back after the repeat started.... ESC key was wearing out..."

That would tell me my auto-repeat setting of 2.8 seconds was too short. This
will slow YOU down because a station will come across you, get ready to call
you, but you start another CQ and I have to wait until you're done with the
next CQ. If you waited a second or two longer, I could have answered your CQ
the first time.

It's the same issue as not putting a CQ at the tail end of the CQ macro. It
looks like the majority of the fellows have "gotten the message" regarding
that technique.

For reference, depending upon the rate at any particular moment, I set the
repeat delay between 4 and 5 seconds, (more delay if the rate is low, less
delay if the rate is high). Also, my macros are not set in stone, but I
tweak them for the current conditions, what band I'm on, and whether it's
the beginning or end of the contest.
