I just can't resist commenting on how many people appear to be "afraid" of new technology! (That's my perception.)

These text based reflectors are so "last century" it's laughable. I consider them equivalent to a 5-tube AM radio on the kitchen shelf.

Facebook, on the other hand, is equivalent to a 72" HDTV with color, surround sound, video, and instant connections to your friends and family. YOU control who gets to "see your stuff", not some invisible reflector moderator.

In my case, I reconnected to co-workers from many decades ago, relatives I visited in Europe 12 years ago, my nieces & nephews who live far away, as well as ham radio groups, DXpeditions, and many other resources. I get to see personal adventures with their comments on photos and videos they post. I got to see my new grand nephew hardly minutes after he was born 600 miles away. Another is participating in weekly Jr Cart Racing and stands on the podium.

So Jim, please elaborate on the "brain drain" aspect that you cast onto Facebook. I really would like to understand how a negative perception of the newer technologies develops in peoples minds. What are the issues?

I agree with Jerry.

If retailers are going to start relying on Facebook, the will loose my business to. I refuse to bow to the brain-drainer AKA Facebook.
