I use Ubuntu Linux 14.04 on my computers. It has LibreOffice which can
give you your spreadsheets, word processor, etc. Last time I checked,
though, LibreOffice doesn't work with propriety Microsoft extensions
such as ppsx. If you still need Windows applications you can install
virtualbox on a Linux system and run Windows within that environment.
I run Windows 7 as a guest OS on my Linux computers since I have some
programs that aren't available for Linux. It sounds more complicated
than it is. You still need the product key for Windows though. But, to
run guest operating systems efficiently with virtualbox you should get
a PC with at least 6 GB of memory. You may be able to upgrade your
existing PC's with more memory and it may even be possible to get a
faster CPU, also.
