Ari,

I just know I'm going to get flamed for this, but:

What the heck are you knocking yourself out for with a straight key???????

Go get yourself a good set of paddles (you can sell them if it doesn't work
out) and a keyer and practice with them.

No pain.

No strain.

Literally!!

Do you have to send code to pass the code test? NO.

Do you have to even demonstrate that you know which side of a key is up? NO.

Does your wrist and forearm get tired and sore from sending CW with a straight
key? Darn right!

Will they get as tired and sore with a set of paddles? Not on your life!

Now, if you and your mind are locked on to using a straight key, then pick it
up and play with it AFTER you get your ticket and and the pressure is off where
you can practice in a relaxed and more enjoyable atmosphere.

But to just get familiar with code and the mechanics of sending it and hearing
it and translating it, there's no reason to knock yourself and your arm out
with a straight key if you don't absolutely have to.

Paddles.

It's what's for CW.

Make it easy on yourself, Ari.

dale, kg5u
