Why don't all you "Expert" with the multiple, advanced degrees quit your
jobs and run to Ten Tec to provide immediate assistance
to their engineering department, R&D, and sales. It is quite evident that
they are in need of your immediate assistance.
I, for one am tired of being a "Beta Tester" for Icom. I have a nice IC-746,
but soon after I purchased it, along comes the new
PRO version. I suppose this is the same thing for everyone who bought a
706/706 MkII. I also have the 706 MkIIG, which along
with the 746, have some issues that bother me. But I would rather work
around those shortfalls then sit and stew about this and that
on the reflector. I don't even belong to the Icom reflector!
Soon, a used Jupiter will join my shack along side the Omni 6+ that I have
had new since 1999. I waited awhile to see what rough edges
would appear, so now I will get to compare it to the Omni and the 746 (along
with the multitude of Drakes). I get the feeling that the 746
will not stay in the shack long due to it's impending role as a 2/6 mtr rig.
With the lack of VHF activity here and my low antennas, the 746
may be made redundant.
To the gentleman who signs his email with all of the serial numbers; Where
is the S/N for your TT? If you don't own one, why spend your
time on this reflector? Obviously you are quite knowledgeable of Icom and
the fabulous Elecraft K2, so what value do you bring to this
reflector if you do not own any gear? Life is too short to be bitter.
Just be glad there is this medium to openly express information and ideas.
As a career military member, I will defend that freedom for each
of you. I just hope I get to return soon and play with my Ten Tecs.
Don't take this with any offense, but I would rather read 100 emails
concerning VSWR, back lights, etc that a bunch of bitter operators with
too much time on their hands.
Deflector shields not need here!
