The original bolts for Rohn 25 according to the NEW sections I have bought (and I bet it says so in my old Rohn catalog) are 1/4" and 5/16" bolt diameter with 7/16" and 1/2" heads. Bolts 3/8 and 7/16" diameter are way larger as if the holes were worn egg shaped from not being properly tightened and then were drilled out until they are round again. Now there's a lot less metal in the tower legs, but more bearing area on the bolts. Probably overall its weaker. The bolt holes are supposed to be a snug fit on the bolts. Rohn allows using a tapered punch to align them and to remove excess zinc but specifically says to never drill them. 73, Jerry, K0CQ -- Entire content copyright Dr. Gerald N.
