Several other emails from hams with similar keyers (ie KR-5A..etc) have noted a flip flop IC at the same place in the almost identical circuit. I am going to try the flip flop.

Probably told you that they could not repair it.

I do not know if any of those IC houses selling bulk would sell in low
quantity or not.

You might check surplus places in your area if near a large city, or look
around with Google.

Do you have any paperwork to tell you what the function of the chip in the
keyer is?
