Stuart,
I am only guessing that the flip flop helps to control the speed of the
keying. A flip flop may not work in the circuit of the KR-5. Also, even if
it is a flop flop, a different flip flop may not have the same pin out.
I have found the LU322 IC listed from some exporters who want a minimum
order of $100. That, of course, is not worth it for me. I also have to
consider if it is really the same chip.
Ten Tec Service did reply again to me this morning saying that if there was
a substitute chip they would have it in stock.
Thanks again / 73

Ariel,
I checked an SK cross reference from the 70's and a couple other IC
catalogs. Nothing by that number. (LU 322B.)
Do you see a logo on the chip? That number does not ring a bell as to it
being a common chip of a major manufacturer.
Keyers are simple now. As a last resort, you could reuse the power
supply
in it, and drop in the Ten Tec kit keyer board, unless yours had memories
and other bells and whistles. There are some other keyer boards, such as
the products from Idiom Press which are equipped with some features.
I surely would like to know what is the function of that chip?
