YMMV: The Scout and my Argonaut 5 seem to drive my 15,000 ohms Military phones just fine. In fact, I can turn down the volume on the Scout and don't get the hum level some have reported when using modern low impedance phones. Have not tried any later Ten Tec rig than the Argonaut V however. Those same phones give outstanding results on the Kenwood TS 140, 440, 450, and 120 the local club has used at Field Days. Thus your results may vary with the actual circuits of the various radios. It is good practice to always turn down the volume before plugging in phones, and before unplugging phones to save your ears in the first case, and any other speaker plugged in, for the second case.
