If the LP filter is actually needed Jerry's one-foot spacing should be an
absolute maximum.....As short as possible.
And to expand, the high-pass filter on a TV should be very close to the
tuner itself. One inch often is far too much.

Yes and as close to the amp as possible, not with a few feet or more of
coax between the amp and the filter. Keep that coax jumper under a foot.
The PA running class B makes lots of harmonics even when driven with a
perfectly clean signal, so the intermediate filter will just upset the
impedance match between the exciter and the PA.
