In January of 2009 I joined the Omni VII group on Yahoo. I did not, and still
do not, own an Omni VII., however, I had heard a lot of good things about the
Omni VII firmware development. As an Orion (565) owner this caught my interest.
As I monitored the Omni VII list it was quite refreshing to see how Ten-Tec,
represented by John Henry, took an active part. User's remarks and suggestions
were openly discussed and often incorporated into the next firmware release.
Quite a contrast from the way Orion firmware seemed to have developed in recent
years.
Like other Orion owners I have openly voiced my concerns about the lack of
adequate firmware "fixes" for the Orion and Orion II. At times I almost threw
in the towel and moved on but now I am encouraged. I definitely see the return
of John Henry to Ten-Tec as a positive addition. I also feel that for John
Henry to come on both the Ten-Tec reflector and the Orion Yahoo Group this week
as a BIG step forward.
Hopefully this will mark the start of a new approach to Orion firmware
development. I know that others may not agree but, in my eyes, the events of
the last few days have made me more positive about the future of my Orion than
I have been for a long time!

Rick
