On the 8231 and 8232, do you know how many beads each type uses?
Do you know exactly which bead is used?

Semantics.......be it a UNbalanced to UNbalanced Balun, RF Common Mode
Choke, 1:1 balun, RF Choke or whatever, yes the objective is to provide a
high Z for circulating current on the outside of a coaxial feed.  Most SWR
devices can not deal with outside circulating currents.  The basic
description of the problem does indicate a coaxial line is being used since
there is reference to SWR values as measured with internal means.

I've had very good success with the #8232 wired model and the #8332 kit
model from The Wireman.  These are the better choices if any anticipation of
160M operation is expected.

As to the discussions between W2DU and W1ICP, I'll add in those further
discussions by W2FMI.
