Carl, you are correct but don't forget, it's not most of the stations that
bother us; it's the ones who drive a linear with an FT-450D... and I don't
mean to pick on Yaesu. The cheaper rigs of the others are really not much
better.

Hey, there's too much criminality in our cities. Most of the people are
honest, but it's not about the honest ones, it's about the crooks. We can't
stop complaining about criminality just because most people are honest.

How many Yaesu owners (of rigs that can run class A) actually run their
radio in Class A?
I doubt that 5% of them do.
So that proves JH was right when he says people won't actually pay extra if
they can avoid it.

John... if you can somehow manage to get the extra price to $100, or even
$150 then I think 80% of us would gladly pay for it. Bob and Rob and I will
go away and just play with our new radios! ;-)

Stuff like the ALC problems of the FTdx5000 simply should not be.
Yaesu boasts of its spectral purity when running Class A, yet unless the
user is very careful with his adjustment of the radio, he will end up with a
dirty signal anyway.
I don't think that costs $300 to fix.

FINALLY, yes we all agree that there are a lot of LIDS out there who
over-drive their transmitters, but we need to stop injecting that excuse
every time we have a technical discussion about our transmitters. It too is
a problem but there the solution really lies in our hands, not in the hands
of the manufacturer. We must do a better job as Elmers.

When I watch signals on a panadapter, even very strong ones, I have to say
most SSB signals fall within 3 khz width. And when they are too wide, it's
because their mic gain is too high.
