Paul,
OK, I accept that.
It's correct.

Rick & Bob,
I should have stated from the beginning that I wasn't singling out the Argo
VI. The eham reviews I'm referring to encompass many different brands and
models, not specific to the Argo VI or any other Ten Tec product.

I have only used the Argo 6 and Eagle on HF.
I can only hear the noise when turning the RF and AF all the way down.
While listening to signals, I don't hear it.
I do agree that Ten-Tec should not have sold the radio like that.
However I think it is misleading to portray this as a big problem.
After all, neither of the radios shipped with a transverter output.
Using these physically small radios for their original purpose, the problem,
though real, is of no consequence.

Rick,
It's more common and bothersome than you may think. In fact, the OP raised
the issue, not me. You will find reports of high residual audio levels
posted on eHam reviews. Moreover, it's often audible when listening to
low-signal modes, especially on VHF/UHF when using transverters.

Paul,
Technically you are correct, but practically it is of no consequence.
This noise is inaudible when you use the radios to listen to signals.
You notice it only when you turn the audio way down to the point that you
hardly hear anything anymore.
Under normal use, it is of no consequence.

Thanks Bob, but I think I have a clue. People who actually know me (and my
background) also think I have a clue. I regularly use high-end audio test
equipment in my noise, level, and distortion measurements. Audio test
equipment includes a Tektronix AA-501A analyzer with an ultra-low-distortion
SG-505 module. The Tek equipment is visible on the operating desk as shown
on my QRZ.com page. I also use SpectraPlus software with a pro-grade sound
card.
I stand by my prior comments.
