Eric,
The Glenn-Martin 70' aluminium tower is on a tilt base. It is
supposed to be able to be erected by a small group of people. Being
aluminium, there isn't the weight problem of Rohn 25. I believe
WA9ALS did it this way.
I have one of the above towers here. I didn't chance it. I assembled
it on the ground, verified that the HAZER ran up and down the track
OK. I then had a crane come in and lift it (guys and all) on the
base. In 15 minutes, the thing was up and secured.
Cost was $200. I don't think I could have bought beer and pretzels
for the crew of guys needed for that price. HI.
